The Detroit Fighting Irish Junior Hockey Club is an organization that has been built on a tradition and a foundation that is deeply seeded to the Roots of Junior Hockey in the Midwest. In the Mid 1970's Junior Hockey In Michigan was in it's infancy and the Detroit Area was the breeding ground of some of US Hockey's great Junior organizations, Leagues In 2012 A few individuals whom were products of those great organizations met and decided that Junior Hockey in Michigan needed to get back to it's original purpose " Providing Opportunities of Michigan Players to be able to Showcase their talents while promoting the great game of Hockey to the youth in their local community's" The Result was the Formation of the (MWJHL) Midwest Junior Hockey League and the Detroit Fighting Irish as one of the founding members. The MWJHL in that same year became certified by the American Athletic Union (AAU) and joined the United Hockey Union which which would enable the MWJHL the ability to make this vision come to reality. In April 2015 the vision of the MWJHL and the Detroit Fighting Irish took another giant step into providing opportunities for all potential Junior Hockey players in the Great Lakes area by combining with 21 storied and accomplished Junior Programs to form the Midwest Division of the United States Premier Hockey League (USPHL) The Detroit Fighting Irish Organization is committed to the concept and purpose of Junior Hockey. "To provide opportunities for players to Develop and Showcase their Talents to become student athletes and to promote the continued development of Youth Hockey by creating an environment that does not sacrafice social, education or family development. " We believe the purpose of our organization is to do more than develop hockey players, or to win championships Our purpose is simple give our players an opportunity to live at home and teach them to become citizens and give back to thier own communities while reaching for their goals as athletes. To date we have been blessed with not only success on the ice but our player advancement to the collegiate levels as well as our organizations community and charitable involvement have far exceeded our expectations. The Beauty of the game of hockey is that with every period , every game, and every season like life we are always faced with new challenges and it's not that we win or defeat those challenges that define us but it is our ability to count on those around us to work together and support each other to have the confidence and the ability to face that challenge
